MAILBAG
Hiya Stuart!
Been listening since the first little announcement popped up in my podcast feed back in 2018 and for a time, you and Aussie Dave have been my go-to in the days when we wandered the desert looking for scale modeling podcasts. I trust all is still going well deep in the basement of Goodman Industries 😊
I thought I’d take a moment to share a fun fact about the upcoming Trumpeter 1/32 TBD-1 Devastator (my favorite subject, BTW). It was first announced back in December 2005. So yes, we have been waiting a long long time for this one. From the test shots I’ve seen it looks like they scaled up the Great Wall Hobby kit complete with mistakes like the too-long landing gear legs and holes in the fuselage for footsteps.
Monogram released their 1/48 offering in 1974. The 1/72 Airfix kit dates back to 1969. Both have been re-released by other manufacturers but for the longest time that was what we had for Devastator kits. Valom released a 1/72 kit in 2005, and of course Great Wall Hobby released their 1/48 kit in 2012. And recently Hobby Boss announced they are doing the kit in 1/48 but I strongly suspect it’s the GWH plastic reboxed.
Anyway-thought I’d share that. 17 years is a long gestation period for a plastic kit 😀

WHAT’S ON THE BENCH
Stuart – Slow but steady work on the Beaufighter, finished masking and painting propellors, now on to masking the canopy.
Terry – not a lot of work got done these past two weeks. Bronchitis was rough. I did make some progress on the two Fine Molds Babs kits, I should be painting the combat version this weekend, right now I’ve got to mask the greenhouse then I can get some paint down. A bit of cleanup on the Halberd models Seahawk and Mustang X kits (mostly just removing pour stubs).
